The Facts On Invisalign Braces

February 20, 2010 - 5:54 am No Comments

Are you an adult that wants to straighten your teeth? Maybe you have a child that you think needs braces. Have you been putting off seeing your dentist about these issues because of the common fear of metal braces? If you answered yes to any of these, there is an alternative and less scary option; invisalign braces.

Invisalign braces are different from metal braces because they do not contain any metal at all. They are instead made of thermoplastic material. The aligners are clear and are custom made to fit. They are similar to traditional braces only in the way that they move teeth little by little. Align Technology Inc. Is responsible for making them and the company was founded in 1997.

These are a good option for anyone who suffers from the anxiety and fear of metal braces, which many people do. Some adults do not think metal braces are appropriate for their age even though they want straighter teeth. It is widely thought that it is typically children enrolled in elementary schools and high schools that have braces. Yet, many younger people do not want to opt for metal braces as an option either because of the appearance of them. It is known that young people, especially teenagers, are at a point in their lives where looks are very important to them. They see the metal as being an embarrassment and as unattractive.

Discomfort can be caused by traditional metal braces. Having them put into your mouth means that your teeth will be bound by brackets and wire. Afterward, patients are advised to take painkillers due to the pressure exerted by them onto their teeth. Clear braces do not cause irritation and the process does not cause pain since it does not require tightening them monthly.

To find out if you are a good candidate for clear braces, your dentist will take a bite impression to see if the treatment would be an effective one. Not every case is suited for Invisalign braces as a solution. If you do qualify, you will be fitted will aligners and will have to see your dentist about one time per six weeks to assess your progress. The clear aligners also have to be replaced every two weeks.

Another benefit of invisalign braces is that they can be removed. When you drink, eat, brush, and floss your teeth, you can take them out. Though, they will need to be worn for twenty to twenty-two hours per day. They should only be removed at times for those reasons.

The price, insurance coverage information, and time it will take for you to straighten your teeth depends on your doctors assessment. Every patient has a case that is different and unique. Also, not every orthodontic office offers this service, so look into which local offices do.

So if you are unsure about the metal braces option, consider the invisalign option instead. They are not made of metal, they do not need tightening monthly, and they do not cause pain. They are ideal for those who want to straighten their teeth yet have convenience. With any questions and concerns, see your dentist because they will supply all the information needed.

Root Canal Dentistry Is Necessary And Should Be Painless

January 20, 2010 - 5:25 am No Comments

Root canal dentistry is something also known as endodontic therapy, though it just goes by ‘root canal’ in common speech. People regard it as the most painful dental procedure, but one should really experience no pain if it is done right. It can be painful if an infected tooth is not caught right away and taken care of. It is a very necessary procedure, however, and if it is not done for teeth that need it, the health ramifications can be very problematic.

A cracked or decayed tooth is the first sign that there could be problems because those are the two things that make teeth vulnerable to infections. A dentist will then drill into a tooth to remove the pulp. The pulp is in the center of the tooth and it is what gets infected. Once the pulp is removed (and the tooth killed) the tooth is capable of being saved, even though it will be just the shell of the tooth.

This should hopefully prevent infection, which is incredibly painful–much more so than the root canal. It stops the infection because after the pulp is taken out, the tooth is cleaned and filled with a sealant. It is usually a liquid or gel that is allowed to seep into all the crevices and cracks of a tooth before it is hardened with X-rays. This makes sure the tooth is fully closed.

The tooth is, as was mentioned, dead. Nerves are completely gone from the tooth and no blood can reach it. It is often fitted with a crown. However, there is no negative to this situation apart from the price. The tooth can still be used and you don’t have to suffer any gaps from missing teeth.

Root canals get the reputation for being painful because people often wait too long to get them. By the time many people get root canals, their teeth are already infected and the infection has spread to the gum from the root. This is when things get painful, because your gums get filled with pus when they’re infected. When this happens, there is very little a dentist is capable of doing to rid the procedure of pain. Root Canal Dentistry tries to prevent this.

The pus means a longer process before the tooth can be fixed and a longer recovery. The root has a lot of pressure put on it by the pus, which is why it is painful. A dentist must make incisions so the pus is able to drain out. Medication is also usually given in this situation to help control the infection and to dry the pus. It takes at least a week before the tooth is ready for surgery.

Sometimes, though, root canals can leave you with long-term problems, though the root canals really have to happen; there is not another option. There have been a few reports of dental tools breaking off inside a cavity and being sealed up in the tooth. Sometimes the tooth can still be infected even after the pulp is removed, either right away or years later.

Dead teeth with the pulp removed are delicate. There is no internal structure left and the sealant is not as strong as the pulp. The tooth will probably eventually crack. A tooth must be well cared for, even after a crown has been put on. Crowns don’t stop decay. To avoid all of this mess, visit a dentist at least twice a year, and brush and floss your teeth at least twice per day so you never have to worry about root canals.

Easy Way To Relieve Toothache Pain

June 28, 2009 - 11:57 pm No Comments

Everybody out there sometime, will have the un-comfortableness of a toothache. Toothaches and the problems they bring are extremely painful, some of the worst discomfort you will ever go through in your existence. Even if you may have had regular checkups

Should you choose to get some natural herbal cures, you will want to obtain them in tincture formulation, as the natural alcohol content will get the germs out of the location, and help to get rid of the swelling and get rid of the infection. Once you find the tincture, you will use about a teaspoon of it and softly rinse your mouth next to the infection. Then, let it soak on your teeth for a while. These tinctures are remedies that use herbs to the toothache area and dampen the pain by deadening the nerves that are creating discomfort.

The primary way to eliminate the toothache is to try to ease the pain. If you are able to ease the pain, comfort will follow. Although the toothache may go away, the concern will likely still be there until you get to the doctor and have it cared for. The dentist is the regular way to deal with it, you could have to wait on the doctor, because the problem might happen at a time when the doctor isn’t in his office.

My best advice is to hunt for a doctors care as soon as possible, as the pain can always recur at any time. If you don’t get your teeth fixed very soon, the problem can advance and cause you more concerns with your toothache. Most cavities will need to be taken care of, while the dying teeth might need to be taken out. If caught before it is too serious, the doctor can in most cases help the tooth.

A very good method to abate the pain of the tooth problem is by getting a product similar to Ambesol. With these sorts of toothache pain relief medication, you spread the medicine on the toothache area and it will eliminate the problem. These toothache products go to work pretty quick, even though sometimes cannot have much effect if the toothache cause has gone too far or become so bad that the tooth is beyond repair.

An optional way to interrupt the toothache is to use aspirin. If you go for this track, you will want to use a brand that is powered. Alternatively you could, put the pill in your mouth, press the pill with your tongue to hold it against the painful area. The aspirin or Tylenol will start to dissolve locate a direct path into a nerve and interrupt the source of pain. It has been found to work well interrupt the source of pain, but watch out after the aspirin has dissolved because you can count on a unpleasant taste in place of the pain.

The best way to interrupt the toothache is to make an appointment with your dentist and have it attended to as it need to be. Remember that if the toothache is an infected tooth, it will usually be treated with antibiotics. When your infection is treated, the doctor will move to begin with treating you toothache..

Most if not almost all toothache pain is caused by a cavity that has to be dealt with. An uncomfortable feeling in your teeth would cause me to find a way to see my dentist. If you aren’t able to make it to the dental practitioner, go ahead and get a bottle of aspirin until the dentist has an appointment open.
